Shanghai Female Entrepreneur Competition

On Saturday 12th November, we were absolutely delighted here at iStage that our Co-Founder and Managing Director, Miss Penny Jin, was awarded the grand first prize in a prestigious new competition for young female entrepreneurs in Shanghai. Penny, her family, and Steven Hirst, our Director of Drama, attended the event in Jingan and we were amazed on arrival to discover that the event was much larger than anyone had anticipated. In fact Penny came first out of 149 entrants! There were about 250 people in attendance at the event, many VIPs, government officials, successful businesspeople, and a great many reporters and news crews. Two of our iStage students, Yoanna, who is just 5, and Alex, who is just 12, also performed on the very large stage. Yoanna recited an English poem and Alex sang a song from our successful Summer camp production of ‘The Jungle Book’. Both of them were very confident and brave indeed in performing in front of such a large audience of distinguished guests and dignitaries. Yoanna’s Mum and Grandmother were absolutely thrilled and very proud of her as indeed was everyone here at the iStage family. It was very gratifying and rewarding for the whole team for everyone’s hard work and success to be rewarded in this public way. Congratulations again to Penny!
