iStage Musical Lab "CARRIE"

April 3rd, 2023

iStage Musical Theater Lab proudly presented the musical "CARRIE," at the end of February.  Students from our Pre-Conservatory and Musical Theater Academy Elite classes only had a short 8 weeks to practice and present 2 exhilarating performances for the audience.

Only 30 people can be accommodated in each show, so they can experience this "special" immersive musical performance.

Where a group of teens who love musical theater passionately, on an uncontained stage, burst into magical candescence. The audience was astonished by the wonderful performance of the students.

The show "CARRIE" should only be experienced live.

As one journeys through childhood, there is more than one "CARRIE" around, careful not to be caught in the center of the storm.

“CARRIE" has a tumultuous ending. With her superpowers, she takes revenge on all the people around her - people that insulted or suppressed her, knowingly or unknowingly.

At a young age, the sweet dreams are shattered, and then she grows up slowly…

In our iStage Musical Lab performances, students get the chance to experiment with new, exciting and engaging forms of Musical Theatre. Musicals with a strong message are the starting point, and collaboratively we explore the most important themes of the show. From there, we choose the song materials, create choreography and work on acting and characterisation. Students will not focus on one character in the final performance, but we will find out how they personally relate to the materials and use these experiences to retell the story in a staged concert version.

Adapted from a book by Stephen King, the musical Carrie tells the story of Carrie White, a teenage outcast who longs to fit in. At her high school, she’s bullied by the popular crowd, and virtually invisible to everyone else, while at home, she’s dominated by her loving but cruelly controlling mother. Then she discovers her telekinetic powers, with horrific results.
